At least three Dona Ana County residents - and many others nationwide - have reported receiving phone calls threatening them with arrest for failure to report for jury duty or respond to court summons, then seeking money and/or personal information to clear the arrest warrant.
Third Judicial District Court Chief Judge Fernando Macias said the phone calls are a scam, and should be reported to authorities immediately.

Judge Fernando R. Macias was elected Chief Judge of the Court at the Judges' Meeting Dec. 11, 2013 and will assume the position on Jan. 1, 2014.
By order of Supreme Court Chief Justice Maes, Third Judicial District Court will be closed Dec. 31st, 2013 and Jan. 1st, 2014 for New Year's Day Holidays. The Court will be open Monday, Dec. 30th, and will reopen Thursday, Jan. 2nd, 2014 during normal business hours.
