Children’s Court Mediation

The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) has partnered with the Children, Youth & Family Department (CYFD) to mediate child abuse and neglect cases since 2000. Abuse and neglect mediation exists in all judicial districts and CYFD county offices. The Children’s Court Mediation Program (CCMP) provides a non-adversarial approach to helping CYFD and the courts work together with families facing long-term issues such as substance abuse, domestic violence, poverty and mental illness. A professionally trained mediator meets with the parents, attorneys, case workers and others and assists in reaching agreements regarding placement, visitation, treatment and permanency for children.
